In this work, I wrote verses by Saadi in the traditional Chalipa format while studying and practicing the approach of Master Amirkhani. Alongside attention to the proportions of the letters and the stability of the composition, it was important to me that the natural flow of the poetry remain present in the movement of the lines.
The Chalipa structure allows each line to retain its own presence while gaining meaning through its relationship with the others. In “Cast Aside,” elongated strokes, spacing, and changes in the rhythm of the pen are arranged so that the movement of the eye across the page follows the cadence of the verse.
