In this work, a hemistich from a ghazal by Rumi is rendered through a free approach to composition and form. The extension of the letters and the gentle movement of the pen create a structure in which the text is not only read, but also experienced as a visual element.
The simplicity of the background and the strong presence of the script draw attention to the rhythm of the letters and the quality of the pen’s movement. The brevity of the hemistich allows for a greater focus on form and the atmosphere of the work.
Text / Poem in the Artwork:
“The longing for that cupbearer is mine; all the rest is yours.”
