This work developed through the practice and study of a composition by Mehdi Fallah, with attention to the placement and construction of letters and the way they interact in shaping the overall form. Long sweeping strokes and red letterforms expand Rumi’s brief verse across the page, while the detailed illumination by Zahra Pouya creates a richly articulated setting around the calligraphy and draws the eye toward its central form.
Text / Poem in the Artwork:
“O you unaware of making and burning,
Love is something that comes, not something that can be learned.”
