About the artwork

This work grew out of the study and practice of Mehdi Fallah’s siah-mashq compositions, with a focus on understanding the placement and construction of letters and the quality of their relationships within a unified form. Through dense lettering and extended strokes, Khayyam’s text moves beyond linear readability and becomes a continuous visual structure.

Text / Poem in the Artwork:
“This wheel of the heavens in which we stand bewildered

Know it as an image of a magic lantern

The sun is the lamp, and the world the lantern

And we are the figures within it, bewildered”
