In this work, a passage from Imam Ali’s letter to Malik al-Ashtar has been selected; a text that, in an advisory tone, invites the reader to recognize and restrain inner desires. The horizontal structure of the composition and the gentle flow of the letters create an atmosphere suited to the reflective nature of the text, where calligraphy becomes not only a carrier of words but also a space for contemplation on their meaning.

“Ya Malik, restrain your desires and withhold your self from what is not permitted for you. For restraining the self is a form of fairness toward it, in what it loves and what it dislikes.”
