In this work, Hafez’s verse is rendered in a free approach, with emphasis on the visual quality of the letterforms. The dark ground and the light strokes create a relationship between darkness and brightness, shaping the atmosphere of the work through their contrast.
The movement of the elongated white strokes across the dark surface functions not only as a carrier of text, but also as an element of rhythm and composition, where the form of the letters follows the mood of the verse across the page.
Text in the Artwork:
“The end of the dark night is white.”
