About the artwork

This work belongs to the artist’s early experiments with calligraphic painting in a devotional context and was inspired by Abbas ibn Ali and the event of Alqama on the day of Ashura. Elongated blue forms, traces of fading script, and fields of green and dark tones create a space suspended between the visible presence of calligraphy and the marks of its gradual disappearance.
