What drew me to this text was the way Ali ibn Abi Talib speaks of Fatimah al-Zahra, describing his wife through a succession of elevated and reverent qualities. That aspect of the passage became the starting point for the work.
The phrase “I am the husband of al-Batul” occupies the center at a large scale, while finer inscriptions around it continue the text on another visual level. The contrast of black calligraphy against the pale yellow marbled ground further emphasizes the central phrase.
